Fathers day festivities

It was all happening here in Argenton sur Creuse today… the Legislative elections took a back seat to Fathers Day (la fête des pères) and a parade (cavalcade) was held to conclude a weekend of festivities – something like a mini Moomba with carnival rides and fireworks. Certainly not political, possibly for Fathers Day – we’re not entirely sure.

Never mind the reason, the atmosphere was fun and the weather superb.

I’m sure the French are more patient than us Aussies. No-one seemed to mind waiting the extra half hour before the parade started.

And all too soon the cavalcade concluded.

So I take this opportunity to wish all fathers a “Happy fathers day” (even though Aussies special day for dads isn’t till September)… especially to new and prospective dads – and commiserations to those, like me, whose beloved fathers are no longer with us.
