Fantasies and fairytales

I just had to share this photo…

A house among the vineyards?

Well actually it’s a shed we saw in nearby St Marcel, but it looks like an adorable little house, and I almost expect some fairytale character to come bursting out.

It reminded me of a miniature house they used to have on a traffic island in neighbouring Le Pêchereau. I’m not sure what it was meant to signify, and it’s not there any longer, but again, whimsical and fairytale-like.

As are the turrets dotted here and there – just perfect for Rapunzel.

The occasional fortress ruin or remnant of the old prison hint of things more sinister.

And with houses placed higgledy-piggledy, and seeming to grow out of the water’s edge…

…Argenton sur Creuse is a fertile ground for wild imaginations such as mine.

Or maybe with all this renovating the paint fumes are finally getting to me?
