Layer upon layer

I’ve started stripping the wallpaper in the downstairs lounge. Four layers of wallpaper to strip (each more hideous than the last) and it’s a large room – this is going to take a while, but nothing that a sponge, warm water and a scraper can’t handle.

Also discovered what must have originally been a doorway, so there will be quite a bit of plastering required before painting, and the ceiling needs a lot of work too.

Doesn’t look like much, but that photo represents about 5 hours work. Did another 6 hours today – completed this wall and started on the next (already behind schedule… I was hoping for one wall per day, rather optimistic as it turns out.)

I’ll sleep well tonight.

Bonne nuit
